Building spell Check and WYSIWYG is a lot harder than it seems

I'm just testing the new spell check and WYSIWYG functionality in TypePad.

Here's more information about the new features.

Let's hear it for the TypePad team! There are a lot of subtle behaviors that make the new features cool. My personal favorite is the way the QuickPost bookmarklet handles quotes. So, when you select some text on a page and then post from the bookmarklet, the quote will be indented and attributed to the link where it was found.

The TypePad team kicks ass.

I kid you not, these are four things I found myself doing today:

1. Polishing a penny with Kleen King.

2. Taking film that's been in my camera for three years to be developed (One hour processing, of course).

3. Watching the end of Chances Are

4. Staring out the window. A lot.

It's the calm before the storm and I'm making the most of being unproductive while I still have the chance.

But why isn't it free?

So, the fifth day of TypePad turned pretty much into the fifth night of TypePad for most of the world and we released the information everyone has been waiting for: Launch date, pricing and features.

It's been a busy week and I'm happy to say that we'll finally have some time to watch all the programs that our TiVo recorded for us.

And after that, I can begin obsessing and internalizing all the comments people have to say about the announcements.

Fresh Start

Now that the password protection has been lifted on TypePad sites and this weblog is now public, I figured that it would make sense to start off fresh and remove posts that I had imported from dollarshort.org. I need to treat this as a real weblog, rather than a test weblog and move away from any filler posts that are so much easier to write. You know, posts sort of like this one.

Maybe the first step would be to update my lists to actually reflect what I'm reading right now.

A goal of mine is to only use the template builder -- and not advanced template sets -- to build out my weblog. It has to do with that whole eating the dog food sort of principle, I guess.
