Not until I heard the Pet Shop Boys' The Night I Fell in Love (Lyrics) with my own ears would I actually believe its sweet sweet existence. No really, it's a real song on a real album.
We'll be seeing the Pet Shop Boys in a couple weeks at the Warfield, where, we'll no doubt be surrounded by the flick, flick, flicking of cigarette lighters and those kids with their crazy sort of cigarettes. And to think, just last week someone called me a narc *. Go figure.
* If I was really a narc, I would have gone so 21 Jump Street on the teen girls sitting behind us at last night's the Kids in the Hall show, who, in great giddy detail, so discussed their comparitive KITH and Dave Matthews concert buzzes. As if!
Of course, I'm just bitter because I wasn't allowed to attend Kids in the Hall shows when I was seventeen.
I was backstage
Couldn't believe my luck was in
I saw him approach
wearing the most approachable grin
When he said "Hello" I was surprised
He spoke so politely
I said I'd liked the show
Well, he just smiled
I guess it happens nightly and so
I fell in love
We went to his room
He had a video camera
I was so nervous
I had to try hard not to stammer
He said "I'm glad you liked the show.
That crowd was dope out there tonight"
"Alright"
"You wanna see some more?
Well, be my guest
You can have a private performance."
I'd fallen in love
I didn't ask why
though he seemed like such a regular guy
He said we could be secret lovers
just him and me
then he joked, "Hey man
you're name isn't Stan, is it?
We should be together"
And he was passionate
I guess I would rate
him a nine out of ten
I'd fallen in love
When I've asked
why have I heard I so much
about him being charged
with homophobia and stuff
he just shrugged
Next morning we woke (secret lovers)
He couldn't have been a nicer bloke
All the breakfast made jokes
about Dre and his homies and folks
Neither of us asked if or when
we would see each other again
But I thought that was cool
'cause I was already late for school
By then
I'd fallen in love

yes, i have the Pet Shop Boys Discography on CD and i love it! i am now out of the closet :)

I just downloaded this last night... That and a lot of other PSB stuff. I'd held back on doing so before, since I was unready to pound the final nail into my EXTREMELY GAY coffin, but I caved. No regrets. ;-)

I can't stand the Pet Shop Boys. I like "Alley Cat" much more. Seriously.

Chris: It's a good nail to pound. I'm hoping that this upcoming concert will charge up my PSB reserve that's been a bit dormant since I graduated college. With this concert, I'll have one more "must see in concert" band checked off my list. Of course, I still need the Pixies to reunite and Serge Gainsbourg to return from the dead to complete that list.

I don't own any Pet Shop Boys but sometime back I borrowed the orange disk and wow, I need to find it and add it to my music collection. I loved all of it and listened to it straight through. Isn't it awesome when you get a disk you can truely enjoy every (or nearly every) song on? I love that.

And I thought I was the only one who liked "Release".
The Night I Fell In Love is one of the better tracks, which was ingeniously written and produced. I really wonder what rapper has to say in response to this song.
However, my favourite is still the nice Beatles-esque I Get Along.
Too bad. They ain't coming to my part of the world.

Mena,
You will LOVE the show. I went last night and it was amazing. The set list was wondeful and included many old hits ("West End Girls," "Being Boring," "Love Comes Quickly," "It's a Sin") and lots of the new stuff.
The crowd went completely bezerk when they played "Sexy Northerner" and Neil's intro "The Night I Fell in Love" he said, "Just imagine, I'm a lot younger and there's this rapper I'm interested in...."
You'll have a great time! And be sure to buy a program (only $15) and really beautiful.

"Left to my own devices" really gets to me.

you were at the KITH show too? now it's getting freaky. ;-) no, seriously - that's quite funny. we were there for the 11pm show, the one that they added sunday night and still managed to somehow sell out the warfield. isn't that amazing? b. got the tickets after he had gone to the virgin megastore for an afternoon of q&a but only one member of the troupe actually showed up and then promising everyone a free entry to the late show.
