Have you seen the new Volkswagon commercial? The one with the dad rushing out of the house on his way to work? I don't want to spoil it for anyone that hasn't seen it yet, but damn. I love that one.
Not that I would cry over a television commercial or anything. Please. I don't even cry every single time I hear Paul singing "Hey Jude" live anymore. Hardly. Almost.

Speaking as a psychotic ventriloquist dummy myself - oh yes! I agree! In fact, pardon me for using this comments system as a dating service, but if there are any other psychotic ventriloquist dummies out there who'd like to get in touch, maybe we could act out our deepest fantasies together (without our ventriloquists around, obviously).

Explanation: sorry, something quite appealing about the phrase "psychotic ventriloquist dummies" - and that's without having seen the advertisement.

Alejandra

Egads! I just got shivers up and down my spine. Damn psychotic ventriloquist dummies. They are, without a doubt, up there with circus clowns as things which scare me to no end.

When I a freshmen in college, there was a guy in one of my science classes who I thought was cute and quirky. I would shuffle around so I could end up being his lab partner. We would talk and laugh and all was hunky-dorey until he mentioned his penchant for ventriloquist dummies. I avoided him the rest of the semester!

Karin

My current favorite commercial is on the radio. The announcer says "Because filling out all those forms can make your arm fall off." In the background you hear *THUMP* "My arm!!"

And yes, I love the volkswagon one, but I haven't seen the psychotic ventriloquist dummy.

Andy

When I was a kid I was afraid of psychotic ventriloquist dummies, but I grew out of it. Mostly.

Witold

before adcritic goeas back online, try ads.com ... but you all knew that, I am sure, and now I left the dumbest of comments. Cheeeeeers.
(I also like the simple mini commercial with the bobby... seen it?...)
(Watching “Blue Planet” as I type...)

Jake

such a creepy commercial...

Annie

Sorry, but ventriloquist dummies give me the creeps.

The Weary Traveler commercial (saw it from the link) was no exception. I got goosebumps.

I much prefer the Volkswagon commercial.

I wrote a whole entry about an ad for cat food. That's pretty sad! At least beer is more of a 'grown up' ad. For anyone interested the ads I'm talking about are at http://www.whiskas.com.au - you can't get much cooler than a dancing mouse!

meryl

Umm... no?

They used to have a radio programme back home in Singapore "Victor and Charlie", where Victor would have a dialogue with his dummy Charlie. I had no idea Charlie looked that scary till I was formerly introduced to the evils of color TV.

All small talking plastic dolls remind me of Chucky. Je DETESTE Chucky.

Btw, the small kid in the Volkswagen ad is the same kid in The Rookie. Wish all dads would be that comfortable with the kid in themselves.

Rachel

I love both that commercial. It makes me laugh every time.
Oh, and the vw one....too cute! They need to make more commercials like those.

tina

argh, ewww!! that was the creepiest commercial ever!!! I hate psychotic ventriloquist dummies. Nightmares tonight pour moi.
