There are two sides to every story.
Mena: Excuse me, Ben. When you have a moment, could you direct your attention to my half of the room?
Ben: (Silence)
Mena: No hurry, dear.
Ben: (Silence)
Mena: Ben?
Ben: (Silence)
Mena: Here's my question: What are the technical limitations behind why we can't have an exclude category in MTEntries?
Ben: Would you shut-up? I'm trying to kill all these processes and I don't have time for you.
Mena: I'm sorry for bothering you. But, I do not think I merited that response.
Ben: Argh! You're so infuriating!
I walk over to Ben's desk and put my hand on his shoulder.
Mena: Okay, I have a solution. We'll draw an imaginary line. And, for a certain amount of time, neither of us will disturb each other. How does that sound?
Ben: Stupid fool.
Mena: You know I have an inferiority complex. Comments like that really hurt.
Ben: (Silence)
Mena: (Silence)
Ben: (Silence)
Mena: Hey Ben, look at this! Simplicity now makes a male pilgrim costume pattern.

the funniest part is picturing Ben all pilgrimed out. ;)

Who gets the side of the room with bathroom access? Kitchen? I think those might be worth a pilgrim costume.

eek.
And I thought the huffy, 'can't you see I'm in the middle of reading this book for the second time? leave me alone...' sigh was bad enough...

that male pilgrim costume sounds like a threat.

You kids are too amusing, I just want to hug you to pieces. And what your recounting of the dialogue lacked in accuracy, it more than made up for in passive-aggressive impugning of Ben. :)

God, that is the funniest thing I've read all day! The "stupid fool" part just abut killed me! Who even says that?
Posted by: megami | April 18, 2002 at 11:51 AM
LOL! I had to forward that to my husband since it was a story we are too familiar with! :D We have our own offices now in the new house so hopefully we can avoid any future re-enactments!

Thanks for the laugh of the day! To return the favor, here's the costume I made for Ben and he tried it on. Perfect fit.

Aaahh! Meryl that picture of Ben is too funny. I think maybe hasn't earned that much torture yet...

Oh, Meryl -- that's too cruel :)
Here's the pilgrim costume in question:
