Out of the seventy photographs I took at SXSW, only about seven turned out to be any good.
Considering that I have a digital camera which allows me to preview and keep the half-way decent photographs, this ratio indicates that I need to learn how to work my camera.
I have a sneaking suspicion that having accidentally switched on the macro setting didn't help bring out the photographic genius in me.
But it gets better!
The seven photographs that actually turned out to be passable should be part of an exhibit called "The Narcissistic Photographer and Her Husband."
Why?
Well, because out of these seven photographs, four of them contain either Ben or myself. 1 2 3 4
The other three? A dog at a restaurant, my award (continuing on the narcissist theme), and, breaking with tradition, a shot of people other than ourselves -- in this case, a photo of The King of Pop and Cam.
Incidentally, the photo of Anil and Cam was the last picture I took while in Austin.
Perhaps if I stayed for the music portion of the festival, I would have some really great shots.

What type of digital camera do you own? I'm always curious.
I'm assuming it's not an elph as I have been blind drunk and stupid tired and somehow, it's pulled through for me. I think they designed this camera with a monkey in mind.
I do love it though.

It's a fuji finepix 1300 -- Usually I can get somewhat decent pictures out of the thing.
The real reason that these are so bad is because I don't really like taking photographs when other people are around -- I feel self-conscious.

yeah, the photos you took while on your trip are great. I looked through all of them. Most of the time my attention span dies after about 15 seconds. Those are really quite nice.

God bless you for acknowledging my title. I will thank you when I win my Grammy.

I have a Fuji film 1400, and believe me, the macro setting only works out well if it's used on close up shots. I either get extremely blurry or grainy results if I use it for anything else.
I do relate to feeling self-conscious when taking pictures while others are around. I think mine stems from the fact that I had someone yell at me once when I took picture which, while it did include said individual, it was not taken because of them, but for the building behind them. It didn't seem to matter though -- I still got my head bite off.

If you look at my ambitious sxsw album, you'll see a lot of the same people (including Ben and Mena -- perhaps, that's a sign they were to be in pictures?). I was kicking myself for not getting a few other people... but then realized, I just didn't feel comfortable about it. It was a miracle I got what I did.

Well, and it could also be a factor that Ben and Mena are cute as $!@#$% buttons. Not that I'm complaining. They are so sweet & cute, how could I? [cue Mena pummeling Dinah "I am not cute! Cut it out!"]
Still, all the pictures that didn't work are totally worth it for these. That picture of Anil & Cam is great! What are those boys plotting?

Uh oh. Dinah called Mena and Ben sweet! Run for cover!!! Arrrrrgh! ;-)

Picture 2 was great! ... mena, dinah's right... you're adorable! And who knew that ben was such a catch! The only pictures I've seen of him were when he was dressed up as a woman, which wasn't attractive. No. Not at all.

Okay, somebody has to stand up and say it. Ben and Mena are not sweet. Not sweet at all. For example, they... um... er... Well, they... ah... Drat. Nevermind!
I suppose this means you're going to kick me next time you see me, Mena!
