The chance that my child will sound even half as annoying as I did as a kid. (200k)
This recording is from 1987. I was able to date it because the tape also contained my own radio show in which I review the Bruce Willis--Kim Basinger vehicle, Blind Date.
"Very very dull. I give it one thumb down."

I love it! There were many like recordings of myself interviewing many people, including my mother. Oftentimes her answer to the same question you asked your mother was "get lost...always with that tape recorder!"
I then had to resort to interviewing my sister and making her pretend to be Ronald Reagan; when that got old I would just fart into the microphone.
I wish I could find them now, but they're long gone, I'm afraid.

I may be taking this a bit too seriously, but all I can think is how sad it is to hear a child ask "Mommy, do you love me?" several times, only to be met with no response. Would an "Of course I do, sweetheart" have been so difficult?
(I'm sure your mother's wonderful, Mena, and that there's probably a lot of context missing from the recording. Probably just kicked up some of my own stuff around similar issues...)

I don't want it to seem that my mom didn't love -- don't worry she told me she loved me often. In fact, whenever we were at the dinner table I would ask my family "who loves Mena" and I wouldn't shut-up until everyone put up their hand and said "I love Mena!!" So, I got enough confirmation of their love during my childhood..
