According to Today in History on spin.com, yesterday was Black Francis-Frank Black's 36th birthday.

This is the actual entry:

"Black Francis, or Frank Black, or whatever you want to call him today (neither one of those are his birth names by the way, so...) is only 36. I don't know if this is true. How can he only be 36. Weird. I say this because that means he's really amazingly young while the music he made is amazing brilliant. If you don't know the Pixies, you know who they've influenced: Nirvana. Please, do yourself a favor and get their album called Doolittle or get Surfer Rosa. I'm personally, absolutely addicted to the Pixies lately. I try to never leave my house without a CD of theirs."

I will never understand why the Pixies never attained Nirvana-like status. Sure, timing has a lot to do with it but that doesn't really make me feel any better.
